Education should be active and enjoyable whilst challenging students to fulfill their full potential. Learning in all our classes is interactive and interesting. The key to our success is a stimulating, happy, and nurturing environment where learning is tailored to accommodate students’ individual needs and learning styles. Core subjects are balanced with ICT, underpinned by a strong Christian ethos. This academically excellent, individualized Christian education enables parents to monitor the standards and content of their children’s education. Our small class sizes ensure that each child receives individual attention, and all students flourish in the nurturing Christian environment of which we are proud of.
At the very heart of Christian education is the constant concern of the entire staff for the spiritual growth and vitality of the student body. As a part of this concern, a weekly chapel programme is observed to spiritually challenge and uplift our students.
Since our aim is to ensure as well to produce students who are not only academically excellent but also morally and spiritually mature, the boarder’s fellowship was established to achieve this purpose.
This fellowship is handled by ministers of high intellectual sagacity and spiritual maturity. Their pastoral support and counseling and quasi-parental influence has helped to ensure positive transformation in all areas.
The purpose of DWIS Chapel is to provide an opportunity for the student body to gather together to worship God and receive edification through prayers, scriptures and praises. Students are asked to participate in various aspects of the Chapel programmes in order to develop the talents and abilities needed for leadership in their church or country.
DWIS Mission Statement includes “an academic and spiritual community equipping students to think biblically, live wisely, and serve faithfully.” Two of the goals included in DWIS Philosophy are that “students will leave DWIS well prepared to serve Christ in their community and country; to live and work as effective ambassadors for Christ in an ever-changing secular society.”
Throughout the Chapel activities the emphasis is on the instruction and character development necessary to mould DWIS students into strong Christian leaders and ministers in their family, church, and country.
Revival hour is held on Thursdays from 6pm – 7:30pm while worship service is held on Sundays from 7am to 10:10am.
There is also one hour hostel fellowship on Sundays Evening from 5:40pm to 6:40pm.
Participation in sporting activities at DWIS provide opportunities for students to develop their skills and talents and to grow in their walk with God by experiencing struggles, failures, successes, and relationships in the context of a Biblical framework. We believe our well-rounded athletic programme offers positive values, attitudes, and inspiration for every area of a student's life. We offer athletic opportunities for students at all levels of their ability.
It is our desire for all of our athletes to be eligible to play for their respective house.
We encourage them at all times to maintain excellent academic standard in the classroom and to live lives that glorify our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The following guidelines are in effect not only for athletics, but for all extracurricular activities. Students who failed test or examination in any class at the time of progress reports will be suspended from all games, practices, rehearsals and performances, starting from the day progress reports are issued.
Students may regain their eligibility as soon as he/she improve on his/her grade. Students with poor grade at the end of the grading period will be suspended from all games, practices and rehearsals. Therefore any student who wants to participate in sports must be ready to work hard in his/her academics in order to avoid being suspended from sporting activities
